My name is Lisa, and I own and run Tick Tock Designs from my home in Auckland, New Zealand, alongside coaching artistic gymnastics.
I started sewing because our gymnasts were constantly complaining about their ‘big-brand’ leotards being uncomfortable and rubbing, particularly on the neckline and arm-holes. The parents were struggling to find comfortable, well-made, and modern-designed leotards that didn’t cost the earth, while maintaining the quality of the big brands. The two most frequent comments from girls when they put on one of my leotards are ‘it’s so comfy!’ and ‘my bum isn’t falling out!’.
At this stage Tick Tock Designs is run entirely by me – all designing, sewing, customer service, admin etc. Every single item is hand-made as the orders come in, so there’s no big warehouse full of stock – your leotard really is created and sewn just for you! I love gymnastics and sewing and I’m so proud to have created this little business of mine which has been steadily growing since 2015.
You can browse products by selecting the type of product in the ‘Shop’ menus at the top of the website. When you find something you like, you can click to view the full information page about that product. On that page, select what size (or any other options available) and then click ‘add to cart’. You can then go the cart and checkout. The payment instructions will be on the next page.
Payments can be made by debit/credit card through the Stripe payment gateway.
Please bear in mind that the majority of stock is made to order. This means there may be delays in items being posted. These timeframes are rough guidelines only.
Small orders (1-3 items): Usually processed and posted within 3 working days
Medium orders (4-10 items): Usually processed and posted within 10 working days
Large orders (10+ items): Expect at least 2-3 weeks until order is processed, sometimes up to 4-5. Please order well in advance!
Back orders: Usually around least 1 month
If there is an unexpected delay for your order, you will be informed as soon as possible. Large orders in particular will be given a more exact time frame upon ordering.

At this stage Tick Tock Designs is almost exclusively an online store. The only official and authorised ‘real life’ sales of Tick Tock Designs are done at selected gymnastics clubs and occasionally at gymnastics competitions in the Auckland/Northland region.

Chest is measured at the widest part of the chest.
Waist is measured at your smallest point (usually between bottom of ribs and top of hips).
Hips are measured at your widest point.
Torso is measured by placing one end of the tape measure on one shoulder and looping the other down through the legs and up the back to the same point on the same shoulder.
Underbust is measured on the ribcage below the chest (where a bra band would sit).
The nature of stretch fabrics means that some variance in sizes generally won’t be an issue at all. Tick Tock Designs leotards are designed to fit like a second skin – if you need growing room please size up.
The most important measurement for leotards is the torso. The majority of the stretch goes sideways around the body, so it’s more important for the length to fit correctly. These are my recommendations if your torso measurement doesn’t match the others:
Torso size is roughly one size bigger or smaller than other sizes – order the size that corresponds with the torso measurements
Torso size is more than one size bigger than other sizes – request a custom size, or order a ‘long torso’ leotard
Torso size is more than one size smaller than other sizes – request a custom size, or order a ‘short torso’ leotard
Long and short torso options are only available for long sleeve leotards.

If your measurements are all over the place, you can order a custom size in any existing design that will be tailor-made to fit your body.
Tracked shipping is estimated to take 1-3 working days.
Courier shipping is estimated to take 1-2 working days.
Please note that these are the guidelines provided by NZ Post. Tick Tock Designs has no control over how long orders may take to be delivered once they have been shipped. It is not unusual for parcels to take more than a week to arrive, especially when ordering to the South Island. For peace of mind always expect at least 5 working days to receive your parcel, especially during busy times of year (Christmas etc).
Once your cart total reaches $200 or over, the ‘free shipping’ option will appear. You will need to make sure you select it for it to apply.
Free shipping is not available for international orders.
Free shipping is always sent as tracked shipping.
Yes! At this stage international shipping is not an option at checkout and you may be declined while placing your order. Please send me a message with your postal address and I will organise a shipping quote for you.
Unfortunately I have no control over the various postal services, and items may not always arrive within the suggested timeframe. International orders in particular can vary wildly.
First of all, please be patient and check the time-frames given for shipping above.
Please contact me with your order number and I will contact the post office for you. They may not be willing to investigate until a certain amount of time has passed – this is out of my control, so please be patient! I will keep you regularly updated on the situation until it is resolved.
Please note that standard shipping has no tracking information. If you have any concerns regarding parcels arriving at your place please select the ‘tracked’ or ‘courier’ option at checkout.
RETURNS, REFUNDS & REPAIRS
Every item from Tick Tock Designs is hand-made with love and designed to last. However, if you are not happy with your item, please let me know!
You may return items within 10 working days of receiving them for an exchange, repair or refund.
Faulty/defective items: I am more than happy to replace any faulty items, or offer a full refund. Return postage will also be refunded.
Size swaps: An easy mistake to make! You’ll need to post the item back in original condition – all tags still attached and unworn (trying on with underwear is fine). Once it’s received I’ll send you the correct size.
Custom items: Custom-made orders have their own return policy which you can view on the ‘Custom Orders’ page.
Repairs: Sometimes accidents happen! Snapped stitches or replacing rhinestones, for example, are easy fixes that I’m happy to do (even if the item was not purchased from Tick Tock Designs). Depending on the complexity of the repair there may be a small fee for the time taken.
Change of mind: I do accept returns for items you’ve changed your mind about purchasing. If you let me know before your item has been shipped I can cancel it with a refund. If you receive the item and change your mind, you may return it for a refund, but return shipping will not be refunded.
Please take into consideration when purchasing that Tick Tock Designs does not carry bulk stock – every single item is personally hand-made just for your order. Please order with care.
